汉译英的技巧（1）
一、正确选词
汉译英时，如果汉语的词语在英语里有对等的词语，当然更好。但由于中文和英文里同义词和近义词很多，此时必须要准确把握原文的含意，选定词语。如果不能找到对应的词语，此时，应该取概念、舍字面。
例1：“好”在英文里有许多相近的词，例如 good, fine, kind, nice, ok, allright, get well等等，必须根据上下文来确定。
天气真好。The weather is really nice.
我的病好了。I am well / all right now.
他们对我真好。They are really kind to me.
这个问题好回答。The question is easy to answer.
他比小王好处。He was much more agreeable than Xiao Wang.
此外，还有：
好父母 a loving parent
好儿女 an obedient child
好妻子 a virtuous wife
好丈夫 a dutiful husband
祖国的好儿子 a worthy son of our country
例2：“意思”
这个字的意思是什么？What is the meaning of this word?
你这是什么意思？请别误会我的意思。What do you mean by that? Please do not misunderstand me.
这不过是我的一点儿意思，请收下吧。Please accept this little gift as a token of my appreciation / affection.
学校闹派系，真没意思。All this factionalism in the school is so silly.
我的意思是最好不要推迟开会。In my opinion, it's better no to postphone the meeting.
另外，与其它词连用的“意思”：
她被夸得不好意思。She felt embarrassed by no much praise.
让你久等了，不好意思。I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long.
做了这种事，亏他还好意思说呢！Fancy his doing that sort of thing and then having the nerve to talk about it.
